Sketch Frenzy Friday 7/19/13

Hello to all my blogging friends, I hope this post finds you all well and happy!

This week Tammy F. came up with our sketch! I love it when a sketch lets you whip up a card in under 10 minutes and this one did the trick! Great sketch Tammy!

This is what I came up with

I used Whisper White for the card base, which I ran through the Big Shot using the Chevron Embossing Folder. Melon Mambo for the focal image background matte piece. Then another piece of Whisper White  for the focal image that I had fun making by using the Color Spritzer Tool and Daffodil Delight, Tempting Turquoise and Melon Mambo Stampin Write Markers. This tool makes great backgrounds and or distressed  stains and it is really easy to work with. I made a Tempting Turquoise banner and stamped the sentiment "change of address" from the All Dressed Up stamp set on a scrap piece of WW card stock. Super easy and very clean and simple.

Here is a peek at the inside

I used the large sentiment "hello" from the My Friend stamp set

This is a really short post today because Jeff has a Dr's appt tomorrow and we need to get up super early to be in Fredrick MD.

Please give this sketch a try and show us your work we would love to see it http://www.sketchfrenzyfriday.blogspot.com/

My How You Have Grown

Hello to all my blogging friends, I hope this post finds you well and happy!

I was out in the garden yesterday and took some update photos for ya.

These beautiful hanging baskets are on either side of the entrance to our units. I made one for each of us. Lisa is a great neighbor so I let her choose which color she liked best. The first basket is on Lisa's side and the second basket is on my side.

This is the focal garden at the front of the house, the gladiolas are blooming now.  A bird or the wind broke a red flower stem off one of the corner pots, so I cut it and put it in the kitchen window. I didn't think it would bloom out all the way but it did. I just kept clipping off the dead blooms and trimming the stem it has been in that glass jar for a week already. I got lucky! The photo of the orange one was extra pretty so I took a close up.

The Hollyhock and the Hosta bloomed too.

This Poppy is what I call a surprise flower. I bought one of those $12.00 Wild Flower Rolls that stated you will have a whole 10' patch of wildflowers Ha! Don't waist your money. I got 2 plants I think are flowers and about 5 more I don't know if they are weeds or what lolol. But this Poppy id really a beauty all by itself.

I also have a double hanging basket planter in the back that is coming along really nicely.

There are 3 buckets on the bottom that have Day Lilies and Astura Lilies (?) blooming.
I counted 4 different colors of flowers so far, here are two of them.

The Gazebos flowers are really going to town too.

The birds pitch in and do some random planting for me from time to time. I have sunflowers growing all over the place lolol.

There are Sunflowers in about 6 of the pots and on my lettuce row on the balcony too. Thanks for the free pops of color birds.

I think this is enough for today I will show you the vegetable gardens progress tomorrow!

Enjoy your afternoon and find some time to play!

Sketch Frenzy Friday 7/12/13

Hello to all my blogging friends. I hope this post finds you all well and happy!

Is it really Sketch Frenzy Friday already??? Where has this week gone to? There is a lot going on at our little patch of dirt lately so no wonder I am out of it. I will have a surprise for you in the next couple of weeks. But, until then we are going to check out this weeks fun SFF sketch.

Kimm Innis designed this weeks sketch. I love the simplicity of the sketch. It was really easy to work with and can be altered to make so many different card fronts from it. Great job Kimm!

This is what I came up with.

I turned the card on it's side and did an oval instead of a rectangle. I chose bright bold colors to work with; Tempting Turquoise for the card base which I ran through the Big Shot using the fun Honeycomb Embossing Folder. I die cut two ovals from the Framelits Ovals Collection. The outside in Basic Black and the center piece in Melon Mambo. My Daffodil Delight border strip was punched out using the Scallop Trim Border Punch I really do love this punch. I used Daffodil Delight Satin Ribbon to make a fancy three loop bow.
The sentiment was stamped in Basic Black from the Oh Hello stamp set.

Here is a look at the inside.

Fairly clean and simple.

I hope you all have a great week and find some time to create something fun too! This is a great sketch and again the best part is that it is easy to work with.
Please add your card to our homepage here http://www.sketchfrenzyfriday.blogspot.com/

Sketch Frenzy Friday 7/5/13

Hello to all my blogging friends. I hope this post finds you all well and happy!

We have another terrific sketch for you this week. I know you are going to just  love it! Jennifer W. conjured it up for us and I am really glad she did. I had such a good time making my card today.

Here is Jennifer's sketch

This is what I came up with

I used Whisper White for the cardstock base and an additional piece for a decorative layer. The additional piece I ran through the Big Shot using the Lace Brocade Embossing Folder. I hand colored the focal image with SU Markers in Crushed Curry, a splash of Real Red in the center and Garden Green for the foliage. The focal image was mounted on a scrap piece of Real Red. The decorative strip on the bottom of the Real Red piece was punched with the Scallop Trim Border in Crushed Curry. I added a tag stamped with Friends from the Tiny Tags set (oops now retired I thought I marked all my stamp set retired?) I Added two small pearls for fun and there you have it.

Here is a look at the inside.

Note the Real Red Matt on one of the pieces of the Apothecary Accent Images. How did you do that you ask! First off, I stamped the sentiment on a scrap piece of WW cardstock and heat set the Basic Black Ink so it wouldn't smear. Note that you have to position the sentiment slightly offset to the left to get the final image centered. Then ran the sentiment piece through the Big Shot with the Die. Next, I ran it through again so that I could even out the right side (the left side will be shorter) Finally, I trimmed both top and the bottom of this piece down with my cutter so that it would allow the matt the show up. Then I made an original (not altered) Real Red die cut piece. I hope that makes sense!
I colored a floral image just like the front image on the front and mounted the die over the floral image.

I really like how this card turned out. It is a great sketch and I will use it often. Thanks Jennifer! We would love to see what you come up with so please show us.
