Sketch Frenzy Friday 4/25/14

Hello to all my blogging friends, I hope this post finds you all well and happy!

I am so glad it is Friday! I sure hope it does not rain this weekend. I really need to plant my vegetable garden ASAP!!! I think by the time I do get my planting done I will have dwarf veggies growing by then end of the season lolol. Oh well there is still stamping to do just in case it does rain. Yippee!!!!!

This weeks sketch was made by Marisol and it turned out to be a very nice sketch!

Here is her sketch,

and this is what I came up with.

I just love how this card turned out! I think the two colors (Basic Grey and Calypso Coral) are so warm and elegant when paired together. I just can't get enough of that DSP speciality piece that I placed on top of the Basic Grey. I thought I better use it up before it retires! No sense in letting it sit around!
The stamp set My Friend is also retiring boo. I have decided to put ink on those stamp sets that I have not used in a while, this is one of them. I used the tear drop piece from that set in place of the three flags that the sketch requested.

Now for a look at the inside.

Supplies used to create this card

Card Stock
Whisper White, Calypso Coral, Basic Grey.
Designer Series Paper (DSP)
Quarter Fancy.
Stamp Set
My Friend and Blessings From Heaven.
Ink
Smoky Slate.
Misc.
Basic Pearls and Basic Black Taffeta Ribbon.

Not much to this card it came together rather quickly. I love when that happens!

Have a great weekend, and I hope you too find some time to create something fun. If you were inspired by my card and our sketch and make a card we would love to see it. Just add it to our blog here http://www.sketchfrenzyfriday.blogspot.com/

Hand Stamped Sentiments HSS #184

Hello to all my blogging friends, I hope this post finds you all well and happy!

It was raining today so it gave me plenty of time to play around in my craft room.
However, I better get the rest of my housework done tomorrow or I'll never get caught up. At least I did the laundry while I made some cards. A girl has to have a little fun in her busy day right!

Try Stampin on Tuesday #164

Hello to all my blogging friends, I hope this post finds you all well and happy.

Try stamping on Tuesday has the Sweetest Sketch Challenge for us this week.
TST #164 Here is their link http://www.trystampinontuesday.blogspot.com/

and here is their sketch.

This is what I came up with.

I found an old Sizzlits Film Strip Die I had in my stash. (I didn't even know I had it!) Do you have goodies like that hanging around your stash too?

This was a fun sketch trying to figure out what three sweet things to put in that space?? When I found this strip I thought why not pretend I was taking pictures  of a Lolly Pop Tree at various stages of blooming. Each frame building on the next. I used the background paper to look like Gumballs...Well that was my idea anyhow lol. The two rows of Rhinestones really jazz up this film strip they remind me of the little candy dots that came on a sheet of paper. Do remember those? This turned out to be quite a Yummy card considering I do not have any Sweet Treat Stamp Sets. For this challenge I was only able to use my sweet imagination.

Here is a look at the inside.

These are the supplies I used to create this card

Card Stock
Whisper White,Calypso Coral, Basic Grey and Smoky Slate.
Designer Series Paper (DSP)
Water Color Wonder.
Stamp Set
Field Flowers and My Friend.
Punch
Word Window.
Ink
Smoky Slate
Misc.
Rhinestones, Organza Ribbon and Sizzlit Die- Film strip.

That's it for this card. I hope my card and the sweet sketch inspires you enough to give it a try.

Paper Players #192

Hello to all my blogging friends, I hope this post finds you all well and happy!

Today, I was inspired by a CAS Challenge from the Paper Players
http://thepaperplayers.blogspot.com/ . The challenge was  for the card to be CAS and to add Washi Tape to your creation. Now, you all know I am working on creating CAS (Clean and Simple) cards.

Here is the card I created.

I was given some very helpful hints about what CAS means by an on line friend. It is a card that does not have any distressing done to it and not a ton of fluff and layers to it.

I think I am getting better at it but, it sure takes practice and control hehe.

Here is a look at the inside too.

Supplies used to create this card.

Card Stock
Very Vanilla, Tangerine Tango.
Stamp Set
Bootiful Occasions.
Ink
Early Espresso.
Misc.
Candy Dots, Designer Embossing Frames and Washi Tape- Retro Fresh This and That. Stampin' Write Markers-Baked Brown Sugar and Coastal Cabana.

A nice thing about CAS is that you don't need a whole heck of a lot of supplies to create pretty cards.

That's all there is to this card. I hope you are inspired and find some time to create a fun card from this different CAS challenge.

                                        HAPPY EASTER

These sketches were so close that it worked out great combining them into one card.

Here is what I came up with,

Thank You Card #2 & #3

Hello to all my blogging friends, I hope this post finds you all well and happy!

Here are a few more of the Thank You Cards I made for Jeff's crew at work. I have several more but I show those to you soon.

The first one is a very feminine one and very clean.

I had fun creating the second one, I really like distressing and making things look vintage. I'm sort of out of practice though.

Both were fun and very different to make.

Hope you get inspired and go and stamp something fun!
Have a great day.

Baby Card

Hello to all my blogging friends, I hope this post find you all well and happy!

Jeff told me one of his Reps at work is having a baby and wanted to give her a card. He also mentioned he was going to need a bunch of Thank You cards to give out to his co-workers and other people that had to take over his duties while he was off work the last couple of months. That means I will be making a lot of cards in the near future- yippee!. I think I will make some kind of a decorative candy holder to go along with the thank you cards and make it extra special. I think he should buy the crew Pizza too. He has a heavy work load and I am sure they had to work extra hard just to keep up.
I love having a reason to stamp -Oh heck I love any reason to stamp lol.

Here is the Baby Card I made. (I pulled the image out of my stash)

We do not know if the baby is going to be a boy or a girl so I chose unisex colors. I colored the images in with SU Markers It was a lot of fun but tedious, because the images are so small.

Here is a look at the inside;

I love the Petite Pairs stamp set. It has so many different sentiments to choose from. The DSP is again from The Quarter Fancy set and I paired that with Pear Pizzazz and Whisper White card stock.I used Organza White Ribbon and the Decorative Label Punch. That was short and sweet don't you think!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you too find some time to create something fun too.

Freshly Made Sketches- FMS # 131

Hello to all my blogging friends, I hope this post finds you all well and happy!

For inspiration I've been looking at a lot of sketch challenge blogs lately. I came across this really cute sketch from the ladies over at Freshly Made Sketches! Here is a link to their blog http://freshlymadesketches.blogspot.com/

and this is a look at their sketch.
I really had to work very hard on this sketch because the major requirement was that they asked for your card to be (CAS) Clean and Simple. (Yikes!) My normal style is quite different and far from  CAS but, at least I gave it a try today (to the best of my ability). CAS is an amazing art form and it does take practice. How to make a beautiful card with the key being "less is more". It was very hard for me to make this card, it took a lot of thought and preparation. I love a good challenge.

Here is what I came up with.

I turned the sketch on it's side, because it felt like it gave me more room to work with (I know I am a rebel lol). I just love the Watercolor Wonder DSP don't you? There are two shades to the design. Yellow and orange and this blue and green that I used on this card. I fussy cut two flowers and placed  them on to the focal image sentiment portion of the card. I mounted the top one with dimensional and left the bottom flower flat against the sentiment piece to give the images depth. I punched three little Night of Navy flowers and  added three little yellow Candy Dots onto the cut out flowers for a little pop. What are flowers with out leaves right! Thank goodness for the Bird Builder Punch, it comes in so handy! I punches three leaves and placed them behind the cut out flowers.

Now here is a look at the inside. I added a little strip of the DSP on to a strip of Night of Navy Card Stock to add a bit of interest to the inside.

Supplies used to create this card:

Card Stock
Whisper White and Night of Navy.
Designer Series Paper (DSP)
Watercolor Wonder.
Stamp Set
Blessings From Heaven and Oh, Hello.
Punch
Bird Builder Punch and Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack.
Ink
Island Indigo.
Misc.
Candy Dots- Regals and Textured Impressions Embossing Folder- Chevron.

That's all there is to it for today. I hope you like my card and were inspired by this creative Freshly Made Sketch. Give it a try I had fun working with it I am sure you will too.

Paper Players Challenge #190

Hello to all my blogging friends, I hope this post finds you all well and happy!

I saw this sketch over at the Paper Players and thought I would give it a try- Paper Players Challenge #190 is three of anything. http://thepaperplayers.blogspot.com/

Here is my take on their sketch.

I was out in the garage yesterday sorting my gardening stuff and looked in my extra chest of goodies and found this retired, but super cute bunny and thought this would still make a really cute Easter card. I fussy cut the grass and decided to put a small strip of Old Olive CS on the bottom to make it look like the bunny was out in the yard. I punched a few Easter eggs in and around the bunnies to give the picture depth. THESE BUNNIES are sooo glittery. I wish you could see them better. Cute, cute, cute!

Here is a look at the inside.

Supplies I used to create this card.

Card Stock
Whisper White and Old Olive, Pool Party and Crushed Curry.
Designer Series Paper (DSP)
Watercolor Wonder
Stamp Set
Easter Blossoms and Easter Bunny? Both Retired. Gorgeous Grunge.
Punch
Small Oval, Scalloped Oval and Large Oval.
Embellishments
Rhinestone Jewels.
Ink
Soft Sky
Misc.
Melon Mambo, Tempting Turquoise and Tangerine Tango Embossing Powder. Stampin Glitter.

That's it for today I hope you find some time to stamp this weekend.

Paper Craft Crew PCCCS#88

Hello to all my blogging friends, I hope this post finds you all well and happy!

For some reason, (I think I am thawing out finally.) I have been stamping and crafting up a storm! But I really do have to go outside  and plant some late blooming bulbs I have hanging around. Then start to clean up a bit in the yard and get my gardening tools, pots and soil sorted out. I have big plans for my new little patch of dirt and what I want to do with my yard. At this point my New Little Patch of Dirt is a blank slate. It should take me about 5 years to really get it to where I can just maintain it. That will be a lovely day! We moved in last August and we had so much work to do on the inside I thought I would just see where the sun hits at different times throughout the day so I would have a better idea on where to plant things. It is supposed to be another beautiful day today so this is going to be a short post so I can go out and get some sun.

The Paper Craft Crew has another great sketch this week here it is,http://www.papercraftcrew.com/

This is what I came up with,

I just turned the sketch and made it a standard card style.
Here is a look at the inside.

Supplies used to create this card:

Card Stock
Basic Black,Brushed Gold and Very Vanilla
Designer Series Paper (DSP)
Modern Medley
Stamp Set
Feel Goods, Lovely Little Label and Layered Labels.
Punch
Boho Blossoms, 7/8 Scallop Circle, and Itty Bitty Punch Pack.
Ink
Basic Black
Misc.
Framelits- Apothecary Accents and the Textured Impression's Square Lattice  Folder.

That's it for me. I'm on my way to play outside and dig in the dirt. I hope you find some time to create something fun and while you are at it give the Paper Craft Crew's sketch challenge a try!

Hand Stamped Sentiments- HSSCC #183

Hello to all my blogging friends I hope this post finds you all well and happy!

I was looking for a Spring Floral Arrangement to put on my kitchen table this week. With that thought in mind I went outside yesterday. No flowers in my yard yet Boo! But I had cut some old broken tree branches from the yard and decided to make a wooden basket from them. With no flowers on hand but a super cute basket waiting to be filled what else dose a crafter do but, MAKE MY OWN FLOWERS right !!

I came across a great Color Challenge that had all the spring colors I was looking for to do the job. http://handstampedsentiments.blogspot.com/

Hand Stamped Sentiments Color Challenge #183 said I could do a 3-D Project so I went for it.
I had super fun today and here is what I came up with.

This floral arrangement took me all day to make but, in real life it is very pretty and looks great on my kitchen table!

I added  several different flower shapes and stamped them in Coastal Cabana, Whisper White and Crushed Curry. I used Whisper White, Crushed Curry and Coastal Cabana solid colored Card stock as well

I then added a few accent flowers in Wisteria Wonder and Calypso Coral  to break up the two tones a bit. I also used Creped Filter Paper to make the Calypso Coral Carnations. All the leaves were either hand cut, punched and or die cut. I used the Secret Garden Stamp Set and the Secret Garden Framelits as well as the Bird Builder Punch for some of the leaves and the flowers. For the little center flower I used the  flower from the Itty Bitty Punch Pack. Those little flowers were punched out in Basic Black, Crushed Curry and Whisper White card stock. I hand made the bow using 5/8" Organza Ribbon. To stand the flowers and leaves up I dyed a bunch of Bambo Skewers in Gumball Green Reinker and a Stampin Spot. The wood basket was made Log Cabin style and tied together with green floral wire. I used a piece of floral Styrofoam to stick the flowers in. I also made a little Gumball Green Box that fit inside of the wooden basket so that you would not see the Styrofoam.

The completed project is 12" Tall and 12" Wide by 7" deep

I hope you like my Spring Floral Arrangement 3-D Project and get inspired to create something fun today. The Hand Stamped Sentiment Color Challenge is for cards too. So go on over to their blog and give this challenge a try. I know I would love to see what you come up with also.
Thanks for stopping by today.

Thank You Card #1

Hello to all my blogging friends, I hope this post finds you all well and happy!

This is the first of many Thank You cards I have to make for Jeff. I am on a roll  with using the Quarter Fancy DSP as of late and this card is no exception, hehe.

I tweaked the HSS Sketch a bit buy simply adding the Organza Ribbon strip in lew of the banners. The image is from the From My Heart stamp set. I fussy cut the image out and used a Marina Mist Marker to outline the swirls on it. I added the cool feel of the Rhinestones to add bling and shine to the card. The solid Island Indigo piece of card stock was run through the Big Shot with the Polka Dot Embossing Folder to give that piece some extra texture. This is a very easy card and layout to follow and the card came together very quickly.

Here is the inside;

That's it for this card. Thanks for stopping by and I do hope you too find some time to create something fun today.

Hand Stamped Sentiments HSSSketch Challenge #182

Hello to all my blogging friends, I hope this post finds you all well and happy!

Update- Jeff went to work today Yeah! He called me at lunch and said he was sore but he was OK. I just hope he didn't over do it and go back too soon!!!

I have all my housework done and have some time to play before he gets home. Another yeah right! I was looking around for some sketch challenges to play on and found one by Hand Stamped Sketches, here is their link.  http://handstampedsentiments.blogspot.com

What a delightful little sketch it is, just see for yourself.

This is what I came up with;

I just love the Quarter Fancy DSP. I needed a somewhat large focal image piece to work into the open space of the sketch, so I pulled out a stamp set that I have not used in ages. It is called From My Heart. It is a two box set with four large images and four sentiments. There are endless possibilities for using this set. I turned the Doilie piece to the under side of the sketch for weight and balance. Then I stamped two images, cut two pieces out of one and colored those pieces lightly with a Strawberry Slush Marker and a Blender Pen. Then I mounted those pieces with Stampin Dimentionals on to the second die cut circle piece.  That image was cut out with the Circle #2 die. I also shaded the circle piece slightly for depth. I ran the Strawberry Slush solid piece of card stock and the three banner pieces through the Big Shot with the new Embossing Folder (a SAB item) called Decorative Dots. Adding a few Pearls really dresses up the card.

Here is a look at the inside,

Well that is it for this card I sure hope you like it and give the Hand Stamped Sketch a try. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you too find some time to create something fun today.
